Speakers & Workshops: Laurel Anderson
Join us October 12, 2009, for Laurel Anderson who will entertain us with her "Shortcuts to Success" Laurel Anderson has been quilting for 17 years and teaching for ten. She loves both hand and machine appliqué, and is well known for her use of color, pattern, and texture. In this lecture, she describes her quilting journey from beginner to award winner. Being a very busy woman (she is taking a break from her career as an RN), Laurel collects time-saving tools and continues to perfect her speedy techniques. She’ll share her secrets in her program and workshop.
Laurel has a book coming out with C&T early next year, so we know she’s a pro. Also, check out her website, www.whispercolor.com
Iris Cameo
October 13, 2009
On October 13, Laurel Anderson will be teaching a fast, fun method of appliqué for those of us who want to get our projects done—and be thrilled with them. The “Iris Cameo” quilt is ideal for learning several easy methods: Laurel uses a simple template technique for the turned-edge background, and a raw-edge technique for the iris. A quilt facing finishes the edges without handstitching. Laurel offers two kits for this class: see the samples at the August meeting.
