Speakers & Workshops: Sharyn Craig
Join us June 9, 2008, for author and teacher Sharyn Craig's presentation of Sets Education. This lecture is based on Sharyn's book Setting Solutions. She's bringing a suitcase full of quilts and will walk through some problem blocks and their quilt solutions; concentrating on size reconciliation, color correction, corner cutters, and dare-to-be-different. Anyone who has blocks not yet in a quilt, will not want to miss this inspiring presentation.
Sharyn has authored a number of books, including The Ultimate Half Log Cabin Book, The Art of Classic Quiltmaking, Setting Solutions, and Great Sets. She has contributed to Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, Quilting Today, and American Quilter magazines. She’s probably best known for her encouragement of students to be creative in their own quilts. With that focus in mind, she contributes to the Design Challenge columns in Traditional Quiltworks magazine.
Northwind Workshop
June 10, 2008, 10 pm - 4 pm
This workshop features a great scrap quilt! Students will trade fabric, then learn a very slick, efficient, organized method of cutting and piecing triangles to create a variety of different blocks.
There are eight different blocks to select from, or you can design your own. After the blocks are complete you'll have unlimited possibilities for sewing them together.
Quilters who have been previously intimidated by triangles find this workshop fun and freeing. This workshop was featured in Traditional Quiltworks #38, pp 25-30.
Experience level: All levels
Focus: Skill building, design and color
